The Journey Collection began during a family trip to Lisbon that didn’t go quite as planned — and yet unfolded into something far more meaningful.
A recent foot injury made it difficult to explore the city in the usual way. To make the experience possible, we booked a private tour and met Diogo, who became our guide for several days. What began as a practical solution quickly became something special.
Diogo guided us through Lisbon with a level of care, passion, and knowledge that stayed with us long after we returned home. We felt less like visitors and more like welcomed guests. As the days passed, our conversations shifted from stories of the city to bigger ideas about travel, hospitality, and what could be created together.
When we returned to the United States, we couldn’t stop thinking about the ease of the experience, the thoughtfulness behind every detail and the joy we felt, even in a moment when travel could have been difficult. With decades of travel experience between us, and Diogo’s years guiding visitors through Portugal, we recognized a shared belief: travel should feel personal, meaningful, and rooted in connection.
